Tongan fans were given the rare chance to experience football's most coveted prize - The FIFA World Cup™ Trophy – when it visited Tonga last month as part of the 2018 FIFA World Cup™ Trophy Tour in the lead up to the FIFA World Cup in Russia later this year.

Tonga is one of the first countries to have the FIFA World Cup™ Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola arrive on its shores this year after it kicked off in September 2017 in Russia. This is the first time that the FIFA World Cup Trophy™ has visited Tonga since it first began its campaign to qualify for a World Cup 22 years ago.

Coca-Cola Amatil Pacific Head of Sales Lawrence Tikaram says: “By bringing the trophy to Tonga, we hope Tongans will get ready to experience one of the biggest sporting contest in the world and inspire young Tongans to continue striving to reach the World Cup in years to come."

The trophy was welcomed to Tonga by Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Semisi Lafu kioa sika, Minister for Internal Affairs and Sports Hon. Akosita Lavulavu, Tongan Football team captain Lotima Taufo’ou, Deputy President of the Tongan Football Associate Paula Ma’u, and former World Cup winner - French player Christian Karembeu.

Unveiling of Coca-Cola No Sugar

At the FIFA World Cup™ Trophy function, Coca-Cola No Sugar was unveiled in Tonga in front of several hundred people.

“We think it’s the closest we have ever come to the classic taste of Coca-Cola and it will give Tongans the choice of another no sugar beverage and become a permanent member of the Coca-Cola family in Tonga,” says Lawrence.  

“Coke No Sugar will be a great new choice for those who love the taste of Coke but are watching their sugar intake.”

Coke No Sugar will hit the shelves in early April.
