It’s back. The 9km interactive running course along the Auckland waterfront is primed and ready with interactive billboards in place, vending machines chilled and a live leader board providing a healthy dose of competition. Are you up for the challenge?

The POWERADE Challenge  returned to Wellington’s Oriental Parade between May and July this year and recently kicked off in Auckland on 8 September, running until 1 November. The challenge is the perfect opportunity to get outside, get active and tap into your competitive spirit.

Last year’s challenge concluded with record-breaking results; 14,749 runs, 8,700 registrations and 123,523kms covered – that’s more than three times the earth’s circumference and 77 times the length of New Zealand! Kiwis were more than ready for the challenge, and this year’s challenge is expected to be no different.

This year, Auckland participants can swipe their RFID (radio-frequency identification) wristbands at the POWERADE vending machine at either starting points at the Auckland Ferry Terminal or Ferg’s Kayaks.

Powerade Challenge Auckland Course

A course will be marked out along the waterfront (featuring personalised motivation via an interactive billboard) to the next vending machine where runners will make a turn and head back along the route to the vending machine at their chosen start point. The best bit? The final vending machine will dispense a refreshingly cold POWERADE!

For the competitive amongst us, all times are instantly uploaded to the leader board on the POWERADE website so you can check how you fare amongst other challenge-goers.

See you on the course!

Every registration for the 2014 Challenge also gives you the chance to win a POWERADE Prize Pack, including the following; dri-fit cap, hand towel, sports bag and drink bottle. To read more about the challenge, safety and how to register click here.
