Coca-Cola Oceania and Vanuatu Brewery Limited (VBL) have donated $25,000 NZD to support the evacuees from Ambae Island and are assisting with transport and logistics in getting essential supplies to those in need.

The money will be used to support the activities organised by Red Cross Vanuatu following increasing levels of volcanic activity on the island.

Gabriela Sanchez, Coca-Cola Oceania Franchise Manager Pacific Islands, says: “While Coca-Cola is a global company, we care about the local community in Vanuatu. It’s really important for us to offer our support to the residents of Ambae Island during this extremely difficult time.”

“By working together with our official Coca-Cola Distributor, VBL – together with Red Cross - we’ll improve access to food, water and shelter for the evacuees.”

Nicolas Jegard, VBL’s General Manager, says Red Cross has reported that many people had to leave their homes in a hurry under stressful circumstances.

“This is a very difficult time for the evacuees and the most important thing will be ensuring they have access to food, water and shelter.

“It is essential to allocate resources that will improve the challenging situation our community is living in.”
