Our ultimate global goal must be to drive a series of actions that address both plastic pollution and our overall carbon impact.

When PET plastic bottles are recycled, and recycled material is used to turn old bottles into new bottles, PET bottles can have a lower carbon footprint than aluminum and non-refillable glass.

Plastic becomes a problem when it ends up in ecosystems where it should not be – and we do not want to see this. For this reason, we support eliminating problematic packaging that cannot be recycled or reused.

In addition, Coca-Cola is always looking to the future of sustainable packaging including the use of renewable materials and smart new ways to reduce packaging waste.

This includes rethinking how we get products to consumers in the first place, putting in place various packaging choices, such as our refillable & fountain packaging, which globally represents 20% of our portfolio.
